On the ground floor we have antiquarian, scarce and finely bound books, a section on local books, and a room devoted entirely to books on art. We also have sections for the more expensive books on various subjects, such as military, literature, travel and a generous selection of sheet music.

General secondhand books are on the first floor in clearly defined sections covering subjects as diverse as detective fiction, transport, maritime, history, gardening, biography, poetry, topography, drama and film, sport, music, classical literature, psychology, cookery and theology.

On the top floor there is a whole room of fiction arranged in alphabetical order and mostly in paperback,

alongside a section on children’s books, all at very reasonable prices. On the stairs to this floor there are books on philosophy and foreign languages.

If you have a particular interest, it is always worth asking us as we have some of the scarcer and more expensive books downstairs. Most of the antiquarian books have an equivalent cheaper section upstairs so there is a vast scope of books from which to choose.

We also buy secondhand and antiquarian books and are always interested in viewing single items, specialist and subject collections, house clearances, or entire libraries and archives.
